I did your instructions, but I have my Ubuntu updated and I can’t share my folder :S, I don’t know why. the system throw “Failed to execute child process “testparm” (No such file or directory)” 😦 😦
my understanding:
although the ubuntu is updated, but the file “testparm” is stil using “testparm.samba3” as its name, so we should change by typing this:
sudo cp /usr/bin/testparm.samba3 /usr/bin/testparm
then file “net.samba3” should be copied to folder “/usr/bin/net” by typing this:
sudo cp /usr/bin/net.samba3 /usr/bin/net
at last, the file permision of ” /usr/bin/testparm” and “/usr/bin/net” should be changed by typing this one:
sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/testparm /usr/bin/net
soryy if im being a smartass,.. just wanna share my tiny knowledge..
Thank’s a lot! This is just what the doctor ordered! Actually I didn’t expect to find a solution of the problem so quickly. By the way after upgrading the samba must be restarted.

Super! By the way I did not have to restart samba manually as I believe its done automatically when a samba package is updated.
